Our Worship

"Draw close to God, and God will draw close to you."

(James 4:8, New Living Translation)

Come Worship with Us

Worship is a process of seeking God to give God all honor and glory.

During our Sunday worship service we come together to pray and sing praises to our heavenly Father, to hear the Word of God read and preached as the Holy Spirit applies it to our hearts, and to share our faith in God's Son, Jesus, who has brought us salvation.

We invite you to join us at Springwood Church for our congregational worship services on Sunday mornings at 11:00 am.

Springwood is a warm and caring congregation of people from all walks of life. We are families and individuals who join to form one worshipping family of faith. We seek to include our children, youth, and adults-young and old-in worship leadership.

A weekly bulletin provides the Order of Worship and other important information.

Dress varies from jeans and T-shirts to suits and dresses. You are what we care about the most, not what clothes you wear.

Children and Worship at Springwood

Children are welcome in worship at Springwood!

As you enter the church and meet the greeter, you may ask for a children's folder which contains activity pages, crayons, and other items for children.

Infant-3: Quality child care is provided during worship and many meetings. A nursery for children from infants to three years of age is attended by a staff member and an adult volunteer. As you arrive at church you may drop your child off at the nursery, or you may keep the child with you during worship. You can always take the child back to the nursery during the service if need be. Don't worry about disrupting worship-we love children!

Preschoolers through 5th graders: Each week the pastor presents a Children's Message during the Worship Service. At that time, all children are invited to come to the front of the sanctuary and sit together on the carpet as Pastor Don teaches them a Bible lesson on their level. They are also challenged to apply these lessons in everyday life. Following the Children's Message, children are asked to return to their seats with their parents for the remainder of the service.

6th-12th graders: Middle and High School students are encouraged to remain in the Sanctuary with the adults for worship. Various opportunities are available for the youth to take an active role in leading worship.

Seasons of the Church Year

On the first Sunday every even month we celebrate the sacrament of the Lord's Supper (Communion). Baptisms are also held during worship as arranged by the church leadership.

Throughout the year we have many Special Services we observe at Springwood such as Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, and Maundy Thursday. Some years we have special services of remembrance or dedication, and for Thanksgiving or New Year's Eve.

At Springwood we seek to honor our Christian heritage by observing the liturgical calendar and celebrating the special seasons of the church year. They are:

  • Advent-A season to recollect the hope of the coming Christ and to look forward to the Lord's coming again.
  • Christmas-A celebration of the birth of Christ.
  • Epiphany-A day for commemorating God's self-manifestation to all people.
  • Lent-A season of spiritual discipline and preparation, beginning Ash Wednesday, anticipating the celebration of the death and resurrection of Christ.
  • Holy Week-A time of remembrance and proclamation of the atoning suffering and death of Jesus Christ.
  • Maundy Thursday-Commemorates the evening when Jesus observed his last meal with the disciples and instituted the Lord's Supper.
  • Good Friday-A day of fasting, abstinence, and penance in remembrance of the crucifixion and burial of Jesus Christ.
  • Easter-The day of the Lord's resurrection and the season of rejoicing, which commemorates his ministry until his Ascension, and continues through Pentecost.
  • Pentecost-The celebration of the gift of the Holy Spirit to the church.
