Sermon Series: This week we
continue with the sermon series considering what kind of
community we desire to be here at Springwood Church. So
far, we have considered that Springwood strives to be:
A Community of Seekers
A Community of Grace
A Community of Acceptance
A Community of Authenticity
A Community of Hope
And today we turn to the idea that we
are to be "A Growing Community."

The B.A.D. (Bible and Devotion)Girls
will meet this evening at 5 p.m. at the church. We will
study the second chapter in our new book. Please bring a
finger food or drink to share.
Special needs at the Good Shepherd
Kitchen are: any can and staple goods, especially
peanut butter.
The Morning Circle and the
Men’s Bible Study meet this Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in
Edgerton Hall.
The Wednesday Night Bible study
meets this week at 6:30 p.m.
Choir practice Wednesday at 7:30
p.m.
Prison Ministry: Springwood will
be leading worship at the McLeansville Correctional
Facility on Thursday, May 8th. Volunteers
are needed. We will meet at Springwood at 6:15 p.m. and
carpool. Let Rev. Kerns know if you would like to come.
Mother’s Day: Our mother’s and
the women in the church will be honored next week during
worship. We will also have special musical guests and the
baptism of Lillian Geise.
Ordination Service: Adam Grosch,
our former seminary intern and assistant pastor last
summer, will be ordained to the Ministry of Word and
Sacrament on Sunday, May 11, at 4 p.m. The service will
take place at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, 5101 Oak Park
Road, Raleigh, 27612. All persons at Springwood have been
invited to attend.
The NOOMA Group meets again
Sunday, May 18th at 5 p.m. for dinner followed
by a brief video vignette and discussion.
www.springwoodchurch.org: Our
church web-site is being overhauled. Within a month we
will transition to the new site which will contain more
information and photos, as well as many new sections. The
old site will continue to operate until the changeover.
The new site will be accessed through the same web
address.
Mexico Mission Trip: Springwood
is sending another team to Mexico on a mission trip this
summer. It has been scheduled for the week of June 14th-20th.
If you are interested in going to witness, serve, and
worship with our Mexican brothers and sisters, speak with
Rev. Kerns.
WV Mission Trip: Springwood is
forming a second mission team this summer. From August
9-16, they will go to West Virginia, stay at a
Presbyterian Church, and work each day performing house
repairs for a needy family. Many of the youth and youth
leaders are going, but it is open to persons of all ages.
If you are interested in going, speak with John Marion or
Vickie Williams.
The Session of Springwood has decided
to apply to join the city of Burlington. It was
determined that this is in the best interest of the
long-term health and growth of the church. It will also
help us address several on-going issues with our water and
wastewater.
