Springwood Presbyterian Church: Whitsett, NC

Volunteers are being asked to serve two hours asking shoppers for donations of staple food items such as canned goods, rice, and beans.  There is a sign-up sheet available in the vestibule.
 
Urban Ministries is an ecumenical outreach agency that was founded in 1967.  The ministry works to help many individuals and families end the cycles of poverty, hunger, addiction, and homelessness.  It provides crisis intervention and emergency services for food, shelter, and clothing.  Each year proves to be more successful than the previous year.  There has been a dramatic increase in the need of food for families.  More than 1.2 million pounds of food were provided to families in 2008.
