Springwood Playschool is a nurturing half-day early childhood program serving 3 & 4 year old children.

Our mission is to provide children with a learning environment that is outdoors as much as possible, fun-filled, and loving, in which each child can discover his/her own uniqueness and belovedness, while also learning to function well in a group.

Our program promotes development of the whole child.

We are inclusive and respectful, and we welcome diversity in culture, religion, race, gender, and ability.

Children will:

Our curriculum is designed to encourage children to try new skills, delight in God’s creation, and know that they are loved by God.

Our Playschool Staff of experienced and well-trained teachers will nurture children by embodying and teaching the love of Jesus and modeling what it is to be kind, thought-filled, and compassionate. We keep a low teacher-to-student ratio (1:8). Teachers strive to build positive relationships with parents as well as children, and we welcome parental involvement at Playschool.

Director, Lindy Halverson

Lindy earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech & Language Pathology from the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point, and served many years as a speech and language clinician in the early childhood and elementary school setting. When Lindy’s children went to playschool, she transitioned into early childhood work and taught in classrooms for 3- and 4-year-olds. For the past 13 years she served as Director of First Presbyterian Church Playschool in Burlington, and just retired last year. We are delighted that Lindy is sharing her expertise with us as we launch our Playschool.

3-year-old Lead Teacher, Sherri Whitney

Sherri Whitney lives in Graham, NC with her husband and 3 kids. She has 10 years experience working with preschoolers and believes they learn best through play. Sherri loves to sing with the kids everyday and also with her worship team at her church.

4-year-old Lead Teacher, Ann-Marie Weber

Ann-Marie resides in Roxboro and has 1 one son - 3 year old Kyzer who is the love of her life. She has an Associate Degree in early childhood education. She likes working with kids because she loves to see them play, learn through play and seeing their smiles brightens her day! In her spare time, she enjoys nature, swimming and collecting marbles.

4-year-old Playschool Assistant, Susan Morefield

Susan received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Greensboro College in Social Issues/Education Interdisciplinary Major. She is married to her wonderful husband, Joseph and they have 2 boys, Jacob and Sawyer. They share their home with a sweet dog, Pepper and an older cat named Angel.

Susan works with kids because she loves to interact with them, watching how they learn and transform. Spending time with her family, going on trips and hiking are at the top of her list of favorite activities. She loves to paint and is learning how to garden.

3-year-old Playschool Assistant, Traci Gonet

Traci is happily married to Brent and they have two sons. She believes kids are the joy of the world. She enjoys cooking, hiking, swimming and having adventures with her family. One interesting fact about Traci is that she loves to find and wear fun and unusual earrings.

She loves horses and spent her youth in the stable competing in three day events (dressage, show jumping, & cross country jumping). In her spare time, she dabbles in fluid art.

Schedule Fall '24-Spring '25

9am-12 Noon

3-Year-Olds: 3 days/week (Tues/Wed/Thurs) $180/month

4-Year-Olds: 5 days/week (Mon through Fri) $270/month
