Providing a safe half-day program for 3 & 4 year old children
Outdoor Learning Environment includes our natural playground and garden lab.
Springwood Playschool is a nurturing half-day early childhood program serving 3 & 4 year old children.
Our mission is to provide children with a learning environment that is outdoors as much as possible, fun-filled, and loving, in which each child can discover his/her own uniqueness and belovedness, while also learning to function well in a group.
Our program promotes development of the whole child.
We are inclusive and respectful, and we welcome diversity in culture, religion, race, gender, and ability.
We look forward to developing a relationship with your family that offers support to you during these years of early growing and learning.

Our Playschool Staff of experienced and well-trained teachers will nurture children by embodying and teaching the love of Jesus and modeling what it is to be kind, thought-filled, and compassionate. We keep a low teacher-to-student ratio (1:8). Teachers strive to build positive relationships with parents as well as children, and we welcome parental involvement at Playschool.
Our Start-up Director, Lindy Halverson
Lindy earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech & Language Pathology from the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point, and served many years as a speech and language clinician in the early childhood and elementary school setting. When Lindy’s children went to playschool, she transitioned into early childhood work and taught in classrooms for 3- and 4-year-olds. For the past 13 years she served as Director of First Presbyterian Church Playschool in Burlington, and just retired last year. We are delighted that Lindy is sharing her expertise with us as we launch our Playschool.
4-year old Lead Teacher, Jane Lewis
Jane earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from University of West Chester, PA. She worked as a first grade teacher for many years in Florida, and later became an assistant director of an accredited preschool.
Jane worked as a pre-kindergarten teacher for 16 years at University United Methodist Preschool in Chapel Hill, until moving to Gibsonville.
Jane loves to facilitate play based learning, STEM activities, experiences with art, science, and nature. When she is not with children, Jane loves to hike, camp, and kayak.
3-year-old Lead Teacher, Keira Anderson
Keira Anderson is thrilled to be part of the Springwood Playschool team! She was raised in South Dakota and has lived in a handful of states, but after 5 years in NC, she and her family have found their forever place. Her husband Kyle works in student life at Elon University, and they have two boys. Keira holds both a bachelor's degree and master's degree in social work, and has enjoyed supporting kids and their families, adults with disabilities, and adults with addiction and mental health concerns. She delights in getting to know each child’s personality and cheering them on in their everyday accomplishments - both big and small. Her favorite aspects of playschool are reading aloud with kiddos, initiating spontaneous dance parties, and hearing all the stories the kids love to share!
4-year-old Playschool Assistant, Laurie Jones
Laurie Jones is so excited to be at Springwood Playschool! She is married to her sweetheart, Dan, and they have four adult children and two grandchildren (and one more on the way!) She has a Bachelors of Arts in Theatre Arts from ECU. She homeschooled her children from Pre-K through high school. Laurie has also taught various classes at homeschool co-ops including cooking and theatre classes. Laurie is active in her church where she sings, teaches a children's Sunday School class, and has lead youth groups and Girls in Action. Outside of church, Laurie enjoys cooking for friends and family.
3-year-old Playschool Assistant, Annie Smith
Annie earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from North Carolina State University. She is from Elon and after moving about the state, she is excited to be living in Alamance County once again. Annie is married to Ryan and together they have two children, Graham who is 9 and Ava Morgan who is 8. They also have a sweet dog named Sophie and a bunny named Alex. Annie and her family enjoy being active with their church, camping, kayaking and playing a variety of sports. She is very excited to get to know all of the kids and be a part of the Springwood Playschool!
